CHIEF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST GRADE 1 (X1 POST) Department: Employee Wellness Directorate SALARY: R520 785 per year, (plus benefits) LOCATION: Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital REQUIREMENTS: Suitable qualifications allowing registration with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist. Additional training in vocational assessment is mandatory, such as Work Well, Joule, or a Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation. HOSPITAL THERAPIST
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience (excluding community service) as an occupational therapist. Must possess pertinent experience in vocational assessments and rehabilitation of adults with physical and mental illnesses.
Supervisory experience and public service sector experience would be advantageous. HOSPITAL THERAPIST, Competencies/Knowledge/Skills: Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel), strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to act with discretion and tact, as well as possess strong planning and organizational skills. Maintain confidentiality and a high level of reliability.
Capable of working under pressure, taking initiative, and being self-motivated. Proficient in office administration. HOSPITAL THERAPIST,
Ability to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with public service legislation, policies, procedures, and labor relations processes.
HOSPITAL THERAPIST, Responsibilities: Oversee the provision of occupational therapy services at the employee health and wellness center, including conducting assessments and rehabilitation for referred PILIR and Occupational Health cases.
Collaborate with PILIR and Occupational Health Departments to identify employees in need of rehabilitation services. Maintain accurate documentation and compile OT reports with clear recommendations.
Ensure effective record keeping, statistics collection, and quality assurance. Manage resources in line with demand. Supervise and support therapists, technicians, and students. HOSPITAL THERAPIST, Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and communicate with stakeholders.
Participate in training and development programs and attend meetings. Adhere to standards and ethical requirements set by relevant authorities. Develop and implement operational plans and procedures in accordance with national and provincial strategies.
HOSPITAL THERAPIST, Comply with HPCSA, Public Sector Code of Conduct, and Ideal Hospital guidelines. The chief occupational therapist is required to participate in important meetings and take on assigned tasks. They must also adhere to the Performance Management and Development System, which includes contracting, quarterly reviews, and a final assessment.
