JOB POSTING 06/28: WATER MANAGEMENT CONTROL SCIENTIST REF NO: 2024/28 SALARY: R499 275 per year, (OSD salary package) LOCATION: Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth Regional Office) QUALIFICATIONS:

WATER MANAGEMENT, A three-year tertiary degree in Water Care or Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and a Water and Sanitation Qualification with relevant experience in water and waste water treatment. Must have a valid driver’s license. Registration with SACNASP as a Certificated Natural Scientist is mandatory.

Six years of post-qualification technical (scientific) experience. Must demonstrate advanced skills in water and waste water treatment practices and possess comprehensive knowledge of commercially available plants. WATER MANAGEMENT, Must have a thorough understanding of water and environmental legislation.

Must be proficient in performing analytical techniques for water sample analysis, handling laboratory equipment, and operating treatment plant equipment. Computer literacy is required, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

WATER MANAGEMENT, Must have strong problem-solving, reasoning, and persuasion abilities. Familiarity with technology related to drinking and waste water treatment processes is essential. Knowledge of the design and operational procedures of water care facilities is highly advantageous.

Familiarity with relevant legislative frameworks, such as the Water Act, Water Service

Act, National Environmental Management Act, WATER MANAGEMENT, and relevant Regulations (e.g., Blue Green No Drop) is necessary. the responsibilities involve overseeing the activities in the water and waste water treatment laboratory.

It is crucial to properly label and tag all collected water and waste water samples. must responsible for conducting chemical and bacteriological analysis on these samples and presenting the results. Compliance with water purification regulations is of utmost importance during these tests. WATER MANAGEMENT.

Additionally, must ensure the proper storage of water and waste water samples and maintain safety measures in the laboratory. Keeping the laboratory equipment clean is also part of my duties. must oversee the disposal of expired samples and chemical reagents in a correct manner.

Providing management support and ensuring effective administration of water and waste water treatment plants is another aspect of my role. WATER MANAGEMENT, must contribute to the planning of annual inspections for these plants and assist in compiling water registration schedules.

Furthermore, must provide support for special water inspections and ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations. must also contribute to the budgeting process and submit reports as required. In order to stay up to date with new technologies and procedures, must engage in continuous professional development and conduct research and literature studies on relevant technology.

WATER MANAGEMENT, must also maintain communication with relevant bodies and councils regarding scientific matters. Oversee the operations of a water laboratory and its testing procedures. Take charge of employee supervision to ensure that services are delivered efficiently.

Contribute to the budgeting process by providing input. Submit reports as necessary. Consolidate and provide input for the technical operational plan. Stay up-to-date with new technologies and procedures through continuous professional development.

Conduct research and literature studies to improve expertise in relevant technology. Collaborate with relevant bodies and councils on scientific matters. Assist in the compilation of water laboratory test manuals. Supervise employees to ensure efficient services.

Mentor, train, and develop subordinate and related personnel to promote knowledge transfer and adherence to principles and codes of practice. Delegate tasks and perform quality control on subordinates’ work. Provide guidance and leadership to subordinates.

Manage performance, conduct, and discipline of subordinates. WATER MANAGEMENT, Ensure that all subordinates receive necessary training and development to effectively deliver work of the required standard. Develop, implement, and monitor work systems and processes to promote efficient functioning.
